The next campaign for Bangladesh team is the Tri-nation series in Ireland in the first half of May. Bangladesh will play against the hosts Ireland and West Indies with a double round-robin phase followed by a final, scheduled to be held from May 5 to 17 at Castle Avenue in Clontarf and The Village in Malahide.
The tournament will serve as preparation for Bangladesh and West Indies ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019 that begins in England on May 30. Earlier, Bangladesh visited New Zealand and played three ODI and two Tests before the Christchurch tragedy that abandoned the final Test.
On the other hand, West Indies hosted England in three T20s, five ODIs and three Tests while Ireland played three T20s, five ODIs and one-off Test against Afghanistan.
Bangladesh will open World Cup with their first match against South Africa on June 2 while West Indies will start against Pakistan on May 31.
The tri-series will not prevent some of the premier West Indies players from featuring in the IPL, including Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Andre Russell, Carlos Brathwaite, Shimron Hetmeyer, Nicholas Pooran and Oshane Thomas. But, Shakib Al Hasan, who will play for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL, may join Bangladesh in that series.
