Young Tigers clean sweep England Under-19 in Tests, ODIs, one off-T20

Young Tigers created a new history by whitewashing England Under-19 cricket team in the 2-match Test series as they beat the visitors by three wickets in the 2nd Youth Test held at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Monday. With this whitewashing in the Tests, the hosts clean swept England boys in all three formats of cricket including one-off T20 and three-match ODI series.  


However, a brilliant ton by Mahmudual Hasan Joy in the second innings guided the Young Tigers to the win against England U-19 on the day four of the second Test. Earlier, England boys scored 337 for all out. Smith, Hilll and Charlesworth scored respectively 90, 91 and 63 for the visitors. Minhazur Rahman and Mujakkir Hussain claimed three wickets each for Bangladesh U-19 team. In reply of 337, Bangladesh scored 228 for all out. Mahmudul Hasan Joy knocked 74 and Shahadat Hossain scored 56 runs. Aldridge took four wickets while Balderson claimed three wickets.


With the help of Smith’s 104 runs, England boys added 223 for eight in their second innings, declared and set a target of 333 for the hosts. Minhazur Rahman took 4 for 74. In their reply, Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Towhid Hridoy scored 142 runs in the 4-wicket-stand that lead Young Tigers to the match wining 333-run. Mahmudul Hasan Joy scored 114 runs while Towhid Hridoy scored 74 for the home side. England’s Finch, Aldridge and Quadri took two wickets each.   


Bangladesh’s Mahmudul Hasan Joy named the Player of the match while Minhazur Rahman achieved the Player of the series spot.


Meanwhile, Bangladesh U-19 team got off to a good start in the two-match four-day Youth Test series beating the visitors by eight wickets in the first Test in Chattogram.  Earlier, Young Tigers clean swept the visitors in the three-match Youth ODI series 3-0 in Cox’s Bazar and also won the one-off T20 game beating English Youth Lions by seven wickets at the same venue in Cox’s Bazar.


Bangladesh now will host bilateral series against New Zealand U-19 team in April this year. The campaign will be the first preparation campaign for both teams ahead of the upcoming ICC 2020 Under-19 World Cup scheduled to be held in South Africa on January next year. The visitors will leave for Dhaka on April 10 and will return on April 29, confirmed New Zealand Cricket (NZC).
