Tamim Iqbal, who returned to the nets after recovering from a wrist fracture recently, gave Bangladesh another injury scare as he suffered a side strain while practicing at the academy premises on Tuesday (November 13). The next course of action for him will be decided after his two-day rest period.
The left-handed opener was eyeing a comeback in Bangladesh’s upcoming series against West Indies after sustaining a wrist injury on the opening day of the Asia Cup that ruled him out of the tournament and the subsequent home-series against Zimbabwe.

“He sustained side strain while batting in the net. There is some pain in his rib. We have done ultrasono and decided to give him rest for 48 hours,” BCB chief physician Debashis Chowdhury told reporters.
“If we see there is no pain after 48 hours it is okay. But if there is any pain, then we need to go for an x-ray,” he added.
Bangladesh managed well without the southpaw to qualify for the final at the Asia Cup. They also whitewashed Zimbabwe in a three-ODI series, but handed them their first Test win away from home since 2001, clearly indicating the batting deficiency at the top of the order.
The Tigers will host West Indies for a full-fledged series including two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is between November 22 and December 17.
