Former Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim said that keeping gives him the best chance to do well with the willow, after he became the only cricketer to score two double hundreds as a wicket-keeper.
Mushfiqur’s wicket-keeping always remained a concern that had forced him to give up the gloves on quite a few occasions until team management decided otherwise in the ongoing series against Zimbabwe.

“As I have said repeatedly, keeping helps me a lot. That doesn’t mean that I will score centuries or double centuries in every match where I keep. But it’s my process and I am a big believer in process and preparation,” said Mushfiqur.
Andy Flower, Kumar Sangakara, MS Dhoni, Taslim Arif, Imtiaz Ahmed, Adam Gilchrist and Brendon Kuruppu are the batsmen who scored a double-century and fulfilled the responsibility of keeping the wickets in the same match. Mushfiqur has done it twice.
It was quite surprising when he opted not to shy away from keeping despite batting for almost two days to make unbeaten 219 runs as his side had the option to field Liton Kumar Das, who fulfilled the duty on a number of occasions in the previous Test series.
“It really helps me. Now I have to do and contribute in the way the team management decides. It sometimes happens that there is a bit of a problem managing the workload of the two roles, but I think it is a challenge and one which I always enjoy.
“I am the kind of person who does not want to sit in the dressing room doing nothing; I want to stay as much as possible on the field and contribute, feel like I am doing something for the team and my country. If I continue to be given this responsibility I believe I will be able to do it,” said Mushfiq.
