Before the 151-run win against Bangladesh in the first Test, only four of the Zimbabwe’s playing XI knew the taste of a Test victory but no one from this squad didn’t know how tasty an overseas Test win is.
Zimbabwe’s last Test victory was against Pakistan in 2013 at Harare while their last away victory was against Bangladesh in 2001 before this match.
Bangladesh played badly but that shouldn’t take the gloss of the effort the Zimbabwe players put in the match. They had to overcome the spin attack, against which they were vulnerable traditionally. They had to deal with a team, who made the life hell for Australia and England not so many days ago.

“Probably I would say that. It’s my first ever Test win. I think for seven of our guys in our team, it’s our first ever Test win. So it was very special for everybody,” Peter Moor said yesterday during Zimbabwe’s practice session at Academy ground of Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
The Test series victory however would be even sweeter, said Moor and vowed to make it true despite knowing that Bangladesh would come at hard on them.
Zimbabwe’s last Test series victory was against Bangladesh in 2011 when they won the one-off Test series at home. However their last away series victory was also against Bangladesh in 2001.
“But i think a Test series in away from home is gonna be even more special,” he said.
“Team is in a good stead I think. We know this is also gonna be very very challenging. Obviously it’s (Mirpur wicket) a different wicket. It’s little bit more unpredictable wicket. And we also know the Bangladesh side will be up for the win. They got a lot to play for. It’s gonna be a tough game, but i think everybody is ready to go in the second Test.”
