Lahiru Kumara has become the third Sri Lanka cricketer in the last five months to be at the receiving end of any disciplinary action due to a breach of contractual obligation. Like the other two players in the list, he has also been dropped from the squad for violating the team curfew.

The 21-year-old was the highest wicket-taker for his side during their last away Test series, where he took 17 scalps in three matches against West Indies.

Dushmantha Chameera, who last played a Test in December 2016, has replaced Kumara in Sri Lanka’s 16-member squad for the three-Test series against England.

Previously, Jeffrey Vandersay was sent back home from the Caribbean in June after the team management failed to locate him at the hotel one morning and reported his absence to the police. It was later found out that the spinner had lost his way to the team hotel after a night out in St. Lucia.

Danushka Gunathilaka had been suspended for six international matches during Sri Lanka’s home series against South Africa in July as he breached the board’s Player Code of Conduct by breaking the team curfew.
