Zimbabwe last won a Test match in 2013 against Pakistan at Harare and have not won a match in the longest format of international cricket in Bangladesh since 2001. And before the ongoing series, they did not play any match in the format this year and were whitewashed at the hands of Bangladesh in a three-match ODI series.

Still, the Hamilton Masakadza-led side stand on the brink of a victory—what should be considered as upset given those all factors stated above.

But if the version of Zimbabwe coach Lalchand Rajput is taken into consideration, it shouldn’t be a stunning victory. Rajput rather insisted, they expected this victory, considering Zimbabwe’s performance in the ODI series.

“If you look at the ODI series we had chances in the first ODI. In the second two ODIs, there was a lot of dew and the toss was crucial, but still we got to 280 in the last ODI. We are not that troubled that we lost the series 3-0 as we had our chances, but we could not finish and take those chances.

“Now the Test match has been good so far, two more days to go, we have to try and bowl well and field well because such chances don’t come very often. And if you look at the stats as well, teams have not chased more than 300 in the fourth innings,” said the Zimbabwe coach.
