Bangladesh were impatient: Hondo

Zimbabwe bowling-coach Douglas Hondo said on Sunday that Bangladesh paid the price of impatience in the opening Test match at Syhet Internatioanal Stadium.
Visitors looked to be in the driving seat after the second day as they took a lead of 140 runs. A lot goes with the fact that visitors tried to dictate terms on an aggressive mode rather than taking their time on the wicket.

“It’s Test cricket, there’s five days of play so you have to play accordingly. If you ask enough questions and they’re obliging, things will happen like that,” said Hondo.
“We’re just trying to complement our batters, who took a lot of time at the wicket. So we have to complement them by bowling in the right areas. Its Test cricket: sometimes you have to leave some balls, sometimes you have to hold yourself in,” he added.
According to Hondo, the opening pair for Zimbabwe’s bowling innings, Jarvis and Chatara, is improving day by day.
“They have got the synergy. They’ve played a long time together. Chatara takes it away, Jarvis a little bit in, so that’s a good mix,” said Hondo adding that he only instructed his bowlers to question the opponent batsman.
“Just bowl enough balls in the right area to ask enough questions and don’t give up, don’t let up. Just keep bowling in the right areas. The pitch has enough natural variation, the pitch will do enough,” concluded Hondo.
