Bangladesh’s injured all-rounder Shakib al Hasan revealed on Tuesday (October 9) that his infection is under control but it will take time for him to recover fully.
All the medical reports have been made available regarding the finger infection after Shakib’s 72-hour hospital-stay in intensive care. The reports suggest that he is recovering at a good pace.

“The report is good. The infection is under control. Full recovery will take time though,” Shakib told Prothom Alo after spending the last two days at the Melbourne Hospital, under Dr. Gregory Hoy.
The 31-year-old has been suffering a longstanding finger injury since hurting his left little-finger in the tri-series final against Sri Lanka at home, in January. The injury aggravated in Dubai during the time of Asia Cup and eventually forced the all-rounder to return home after skipping the virtual semi-final match against Pakistan.
Shakib returned home and had to get admitted to a hospital immediately due to unbearable pain in his finger and went under the knife to remove pus from the infected area.
Shakib will have to stay at the hospital for at least one week and during this time he will be given antibiotic injection. If the pain is cured within three months then he will not require any surgery but if the pain remains then there will be no alternative apart from undergoing a surgery.
