Steve Smith and David Warner have completed their comeback to competitive cricket, while serving a one-year international ban for their part in the Newlands ball-tampering incident. Following their stints in the Global T20 Canada and the ongoing Caribbean League, the disgraced duo will be in line for their Premier Cricket return in Australia.

Warner has also made his NT Strike League appearance in Darwin before joining the Canadian T20 tournament. Another suspended Australia cricketer, Cameron Bancroft, too featured in the Strike League, making it his first competitive appearance since the Newlands incident.

The CA (Cricket Australia) sanctions prevent the players from making international, state, Big Bash League (BBL) appearance, but the governing body of the game in Australia has allowed them to play grade cricket and also permitted Smith and Warner to take part in domestic tournaments outside the country.

Warner will play for Randwick-Petersham and Smith will represent Sutherland in Premier Cricket. The competition is scheduled to start on September 22. Although the former Australia skipper and his deputy are yet to finalize their availability for the opening matches of their respective clubs, they will certainly feature in enough games this season.

The two suspended players have previously crossed paths in a T20 encounter in Canada. They are likely to once again face each other when Sutherland and Randwick-Petersham square off in a one-dayer on November 10.
