Pat Cummins gives update on his injury

Australian fast bowler Patrick Cummins has provided a valuable update regarding his long-lasting injury that has sidelined him from international cricket. Cummins last featured for the Aussies in March this year, during Australia’s Test series at South Africa. He was ruled out of the IPL thereafter and missed the series against England as well as the triangular series involving Pakistan and Zimbabwe.
Accordingly, Australia are slated to face Pakistan in UAE this year for a two-match Test series. Though the dates for the series haven’t been finalized yet, it is supposed to take place sometime in October.
Cummins’ recovery should be successful by then, and recently the 25-year-old spoke of his chances regarding his participation in that series.

Speaking to cricket.com.au, Cummins said, “There’s no guarantees with injury, especially a stress fracture, It’s something you have to be really, really careful with. If you don’t treat it with respect, it can flare up and that’s when it goes from being one month away from bowling to suddenly having to restart all over again.
“We’ll find that balance between getting back and playing and being a little bit cautious. (But) there’s no way we’ll be rested. (We’ll only miss out) if we’re still trying to recover from our injuries. If I’m 100 percent fit, I’ll definitely be going to UAE. There’s no doubt about that.”
These were some particularly strong words from Cummins, which clearly demonstrate his determination to don the Baggy Green again. The series at UAE could well mark his comeback to international cricket after a lengthy layoff.
