West Indies T20I captain Carlos Brathwaite has spoken ahead of the T20I series against Bangladesh. After winning the Test series against the visitors, the Caribbean side conceded the ODI series 2-1. However, the 20-over format has been their forte and they'll to try to make the best of the upcoming series.

Brathwaite believes that his team performs best when the players are relaxed.

He said: “I am just looking forward to see the boys go out there and express themselves. Most of the boys have come from the [Global] Canada T20 and have done very well there.

“We play best when we enjoy ourselves, when we are having fun and it is a relaxing atmosphere, which it has been. Once we take that relaxing atmosphere on to the pitch, I am sure we will come out on top.”

The West Indian is aware of the opponent’s capabilities but, at the same time, he knows that his side can be devastating against any challenger on their day.

“There is respect for Bangladesh as well. They are a formidable team. We saw just how good they were in the ODI series. But we [also] know that once we put our A-game, not many teams can touch us on that day,” said the Windies skipper.

Brathwaite also talked about the role he has to perform as a captain when his side is bowling. While the 30-year-old has to deliver the anticipated result as a bowler, he also has to make sure that his side is leaking the least possible number of runs, by setting the field properly.

“It is always a challenge, especially as a captain setting fields and managing expectations as a bowler as well.
