ICC confirms release of funds for Zimbabwe Cricket

Zimbabwe Cricket board would be relieved as the International Cricket Council have announced that they have released the required funds for the country’s cricket association.
Lack of funds troubled the board and the players alike, as the cricketers haven’t received their payments yet. Hence, the Chevrons were forced to play their most recent series’, against Pakistan and Australia, without several key players.
This was because of the fact that the board was unable to pay their outstanding due too. Similarly, the staff has suffered because of non-payment of their deserved fees, and hence Zimbabwe had to field a weakened team in all of their five ODIs against Pakistan.

Sarfraz Ahmed’s team dismantled the hosts by securing victories in all five matches.
However, ICC’s involvement would give Zimbabwe a breather, and a glimmer of hope that their star players would return to the roster. ICC’s statement, which came through Zimbabwe Cricket’s media release read, “Payment plan proposals will be discussed and communicated to all outstanding creditors once this process has been concluded," the release said. "This brings welcome relief to the current staff and players and is the first step in the recovery process of cricket in Zimbabwe to its former health and strength.”
Reportedly, Zimbabwe cricketers’ match fee is due since 2017. Maybe, the ICC’s involvement in resolving their financial issues would aide positive results.
