Angelo Mathews uncertain for upcoming Test series

Angelo Mathews is almost out of the ongoing ODI tri-nation series among Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. Sri Lanka picked up their first win in the series against Zimbabwe after losing to Bangladesh and Zimbabwe once each. The island nation played without their ODI skipper – Mathews in the game against Zimbabwe on Sunday, while Dinesh Chandimal led the side.
Angelo is now also in serious doubt for the Tests against Bangladesh and has returned to Colombo for treatment. It was expected that the niggle in Mathews' right hamstring would heal fast enough for the all-rounder to take part in the tri-nation series. However, this time Mathews' recovery has been slow as always.
According to the team management, the current injury is neither a strain nor a tear, but an irritation of the scar tissue sustained from previous injuries.

Mathews felt hamstring-tightness during his team's loss to Zimbabwe on Wednesday and was out for the next two matches.
Angelo Mathews has missed two full tours as well as several series over the past 18 months due to injuries. He had returned home early from the India tour too.
The 30-year-old came back to lead the Sri Lankan team after six months following the new head coach – Hathurusingha’s demand for stability in captaincy. He had resigned from captaincy after a series defeat to Zimbabwe in 2017.
