When a teenage Mohammad Amir was banned over fixing allegations, not many thought that he would return as the same player that had left the team. However, after completing his comeback, the cricket fraternity is once again on the praise for the pacer.

And Mickey Arthur is the latest one in the line. The former Australia coach lauded the left-arm searmer, claiming that he is “outstanding” while also suggesting that he has changed himself and metamorphosed into an active member of the team.

“Amir has been outstanding. I must admit, seeing him in England and seeing him now, he’s a totally different character.

“In England, he was very reserved, whereas now he is very much part of the team. He was finding himself as well.”

Arthur than displayed his fondness for the pacer, stating that the bowler has unprecedented talent with the ball.

“I’m incredibly fond of Mohammad Amir and I admire the way he’s gone about it so much. He’s just such an incredible talent with the ball.”

The former South Africa boss then went on to reveal the qualities where he excels at: playing in pressure cooker situations. Indeed, Amir always find himself among the wickets when it is needed the most. And Arthur believes that it is an ability not many players possess.

“What I do know about Amir is that he is a big-match player. The bigger the occasion, the more he rises to it. That is not prevalent in every player.

“A lot of cricketers in those big, big moments disappear. Amir doesn’t. He wants those big moments. He craves those big moments. And generally, he’s pretty successful in them.”

Pakistan take on New Zealand away from home as the former will face an uphill task to get the better of the latter—and Mohammad Amir has to be at his very best in order for Pakistan to taste success.
