Nissanka, dealing with a persistent groin injury, is the least likely of the trio to play. To address potential absences, the selectors have included 18 players in the squad, providing ample cover with just five days until the first Test.

Uncapped players Lahiru Udara and Sonal Dinusha are in line for potential Test debuts. Both matches of the Warne-Murali Test Series will take place in Galle, marking the conclusion of the qualification phase for the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25. Australia has already secured their place in the final against South Africa in June.
