20 Jan 25In ICC tournaments, it is customary for team jerseys to include the host nation’s name as part of the tournament badge, even if matches are held outside the host country.
For instance, during the 2021 T20 World Cup, Pakistan’s jerseys featured India’s name despite the tournament being played in the UAE. Similarly, Pakistan wore jerseys with India’s name during the 2016 T20 World Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup.
The BCCI has also declined to send the Indian team to Pakistan for the event, and reports suggest that India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, may skip the captain’s meeting at the tournament’s opening.

8 Jan 25A PCB official criticized the BCCI’s actions, stating, “The BCCI is mixing politics with cricket, which is detrimental to the spirit of the game. They’ve refused to travel to Pakistan, their captain may not attend the opening ceremony, and now there are reports of their reluctance to display the host nation’s name on their jerseys.”
The PCB has urged the ICC to ensure that the tournament’s traditions are upheld.
