While Rashid Khan issue is much-talked subject because his past success in ODI and T20 format against Bangladesh, the hosts are not giving him any thought, considering the change of format as they believe that he shouldn’t be a fear-factor in Test cricket for them.
Rashid tormented Bangladesh in T20 and ODI format but Shadman Islam, the 24-year old who suddenly became the country’s No.1 Test opener in absence of Tamim Iqbal said the Test format would be a different ball game in which the leggi has little experience.
“We don’t have extra plan about Rashid because we are playing Test cricket,” Shadman said here on Thursday. “There is huge difference between shorter format and longer format as far as the bowling is concerned. So we are not thinking extra about him. We will play the spin the way we are used to play.”
Since getting the Test status in the last year, Afghanistan and Rashid Khan had played only two Test matches—against India and Ireland.

Coming to play the Test format, with intriguing success in the ODI and T20 format, Rashid saw the other side of the coin when Indian batsmen tore him apart in his maiden Test.
Rashid conceded 154 runs in 36.5 overs to claim just two wickets.
But he got back with bang in the second Test against Ireland, claiming a match haul of 7-102, including a five-for in the second innings. His sterling performance helped the side to register a seven-wicket win over Ireland.
But Bangladesh would pose a different challenge to Rashid Khan, believes Shadman.
He said that the Bangladesh are blessed with good spinners, who they play regularly in the net and practice session and therefore they are confident to deal with the spinners at their home den.
Moreover, Ireland’s shortcomings against spinners are well-known but that won’t be the case against Bangladesh when Afghanistan will face off them in the one-off Test match on September 5 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
“We are blessed with some good spinners against whom we are playing regularly [in the net and practice session],” Shadman said.
“So I don’t think Rashid Khan will give us any extra pressure. We are not worried about it.”
