Shakib Al Hasan who led the side in the practice game against Ireland Wolves in absence of captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza was the only shining spot amid 88-run defeat, something is termed as humiliating one for Bangladesh.

As he found him in the land of controversy for not joining official team photo session for the World Cup, Shakib showed that criticism towards him was not a distraction for his game. He scored a handy 43 ball-54 to remain the only Bangladeshi batsmen to play with some intent as Ireland Wolves piled up 307-8 in 50 overs.

Bangladesh selector Habibul Bashar therefore rightly said there is nothing to be worried with Shakib Al Hasan as he believed the ace all-rounder would find form when it would matter most.

Shakib also was the most economical amongst the bowlers, conceding just 30 runs in 10 overs to claim one wicket.

‘There is nothing to be worried with Shakib Al Hasan. He is the player who can adjust with any condition with ease,” Bashar said.

There was apprehension even whether Shakib can switch his mentality from T20 cricket to ODI mode since he played only shortest format of cricket after recovering from the injury.

“He is also the player who hardly takes time to switch the format, physically and mentally. He is a big match player. He will do better when it will matter most,” Bashar disclosed.
