Akram Khan contradicts BCB president about Mustafizur and more

Just yesterday, BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon revealed that Mustafizur Rahman won’t be allowed to play in foreign franchise leagues for the next two years. However, chairman of cricket operations committee and former Bangladesh captain Akram Khan has come to defense of the left-handed pacer.
He stated that only twice has the pacer been injured while playing in franchise leagues and that nobody gets injured intentionally. He also thinks that he is fit now, which is why he is now in West Indies to play the ODI series.
‘He [Mustafizur] got injured only twice while playing outside [in foreign franchise leagues]. Injuries don’t happen on purpose. He is trying his best to get back to his best.

‘He has played against Sri Lanka A in a four-day match. Now he is in the West Indies. I think he is fully fit, which is why he could play the match [against Sri Lanka A] and I hope that he does well in the future.’
He also contradicted Nazmul Hasan regarding the BCB president’s comments on forming a specialist Test team. The BCB chief wants the nation to have a Test team consisting of only specialist red-ball players.
However, Akram Khan doesn’t believe that it is possible just yet as Bangladesh don’t have the player pool that allows for such a move.
‘We don’t have the ability to make a specialist Test team as of yet since we don’t have many options. About 80% of players play in all three formats. So we need to have the option to make a specialist Test team.’
