Glenn Maxwell hopes to make Test comeback

Dashing right-handed Australian batsman Glenn Maxwell has stated that he wishes to make a comeback to Test cricket arena, where he played his last game in 2017 against Bangladesh in Chittagong.

Maxwell has represented Australia only 7 times in Test cricket, scoring 339 runs at an average of a paltry 26.07. He, however, as a century to his name and could yet make a return to the longest format due to the absence of Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft.

And Maxwell hopes that he does while also admitting that he didn’t quite make use the opportunities bestowed upon him in the longest format of the game.

"I would love an opportunity to play in the Test team again. I have had mixed opportunities with the Test side and probably haven't quite grabbed it with both hands every time I have had the opportunity," Cricket.com.au quoted Maxwell, as saying.

He, however, vowed to not make the same mistake again.

"If I do get the opportunity I will hopefully take it with both hands this time," he added.

Maxwell also revealed that he is looking forward to playing Pakistan in UAE and will perhaps skip Australia A’s tour to India as he already has plenty of experience playing in India.

"I think between now and the UAE it will just be a lot of training and making sure my body is right for that tour. I was hoping to go on it (Australia A's tour of India), but as they pointed out I have been to India 16 or 17 times so there is no real need for me to go over there and prove what I can do," he said.

"I got a Test hundred over there (India) last year and hopefully I can get up to Brisbane (to the Bupa National Cricket Centre) if I get the chance to go up there," he added.

Maxwell has struggled for form of late in limited overs, with only two 50s in his last 9 international appearances. He once again failed to do anything significant in the final of the tri-series against Pakistan that only just ended.
