Tamim Iqbal has made a miraculous recovery after suffering a deadly heart-attack, however, his return to the field remains uncertain. Following the Eid break, the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) is set to resume tomorrow, but Mohammedan Sporting Club will be without their star player.

In Tamim’s absence, the club has handed over the captaincy to young batter Towhid Hridoy.

Taking charge of a star-studded side like Mohammedan is no easy task, but Hridoy is determined to embrace the challenge rather than feel burdened by it.

Speaking to the media at Mirpur on Saturday, he said, “Challenges are everywhere. I’ll try to enjoy the responsibility and contribute to the team as much as I can.”

With several national team players in the squad, Mohammedan are expected to lose a few key members to the upcoming Zimbabwe series. Hridoy, however, views this as an opportunity for the younger players in the squad.

“This is something beyond our control,” he said. “But our main goal is to make the best use of the opportunities we have. From the beginning, our team has been built with a big budget. We still have good backup players in the squad. This is a great opportunity for them too. They are cricketers as well, and they need to prove themselves.”
