Bangladesh left-handed all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan said that if he had a chance to play with the auctioned bat then he wants to play the match against Australia in 2019 World Cup.
The all-rounder had a brilliant 2019 World Cup campaign. Where he scored 606 runs in his total eight matches and was also the fifth-highest scorer in the whole tournament. Not only the World Cup, but also he had used that bat before the World Cup and after the World Cup also, and scored one and a half thousand runs with it.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Shakib has auctioned his bat dear bat through a live auction made by Auction 4 Action page. Where he sold his bat for BDT 20 lakh and will use the whole amount in his the Shakib Al Hasan Foundation from which he will provide assistance to needy people of the country who are facing the most distressed due to pandemic situation.
Giving a reply to a question during the live Shakib said that if he gets a chance to play an innings with this bat for one last time then he would have chosen the match against Australia during the 2019 World Cup where he had an incomplete innings of 41 from 41 balls. Bangladesh was facing a mountain like target of 382 runs given by the Aussies which Bangladesh was so close to win but unfortunately, Bangladesh got lost in that match, Bangladesh scored 333 runs. So Shakib wish for a chance to play that match and wants to bat from that 41 run and to change that fate.
"If I had a chance to play a match against any team with this bat then I would choose the match against Australia during the 2019 World Cup.
I had a little incompleteness with that match, as the World Cup has been the center of the topic and this bat was also used the most during the World Cup also. So, I will wish to play that match again to make that match better in the World Cup. Though it was completely from my personal side, because team-wise our target or dream was much more which unfortunately we didn't make." Shakib said that.
Shakib also regrets for not being up to the mark in that innings also thinks that the whole team also regret for that match as well as the supporters also feels bad,
"losing that match was unfortunate for us, for this reason me and the whole team regrets, also those who had much more expectations they also regrets," Shakib added.
After the auction, the authority who was behind the auction said that the bat will be handed over to the winner after all the steps are completed. The money from the sale of the bat will be used for the welfare of helpless people through the Shakib Al Hasan Foundation.
