Former India batsman Gautam Gambhir and former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi often seemed to lock horns on and of the pitch with the heated war of words. They have been seen engaging in a war of words on the pitch but this time on social media.
India and Pakistan cricket rivalry is happening for ages. Cricket matches are all stopped due to the coronavirus pandemic but the rivalry is not stopped as the current or former players from each team are still engaging with each other.
On Saturday, Gautam Gambhir took to his social media account Twitter and wrote that the former all-rounder Shahid Afridi does not remember his own age so how can he remember his opponent's records. He also said that he has attitude against liars, traitors & opportunists.

"Someone who doesn't remember his age how will he remember my records! OK Shahid Afridi let me remind u one: 2007 T20 WC final, Ind Vs Pak Gambhir 75 off 54 balls Vs Afridi 0 off 1 ball. Most imp: We won the Cup. And yes, I've attitude towards liars, traitors & opportunists," Gambhir tweeted.
The former left-handed opener of India was apparently responding to a passage from Shahid Afridi's autobiography 'Game Changer'.
During the tour of Pakistan in India in 2007, Gambhir and Afridi engaged in an on-field brawl during the third ODI the two-player hurl abuses at each other. Where the intervention of umpire Ian Gould has been also didn't back them off. The tension in the stadium became higher on the pitch and also in the gallery.
The heated altercation occurred the moment when Gambhir was trying to take a run from Afridi's over but the two cricketers collided in the mid-pitch.
In the passage of his autobiography Afridi mentioned and poked Gambhir that he [Gautam Gambhir] is not even close to the cricket greats like Don Bradman but still he behaves like one of them, he also don't have any record also Gambhir has no personality.
"He's not even close to the list of cricket greats. But he thinks of himself as a mix of Don Bradman and James Bond. He has no good record. Gambhir also have some behavioural problem. He has no personality," Shahid Afridi in his autobiography.
However, Gambhir didn't back off like the 2007 incident again, so in his tweet, he mentioned his 75 from 54 balls innings which gave team India a competitive total of 157 runs against Pakistan in the final of the T20 World Cup in 2007, which India won by 5 runs and became World champion. Though Shahid Afridi was the player of the series in the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup.
