Bangladesh opener Liton Kumar Das blazed his way to highest individual ODI score against Zimbabwe by getting over his nervousness.
Liton Das and Tamim Iqbal each scored a hundred as Bangladesh posted 322-2 against Zimbabwe in the rain-hit third one-day international of three-match series in Sylhet on Friday.
Liton hit- 176 off 143 balls, the highest ever ODI innings for Bangladesh, while Tamim played an unbeaten knock of 109 off balls as the duo put 292-run in a record opening stand .
Liton, who struck 16 fours and eight sixes in this third ODI century and second in the series, grabbed the record from his opening partner Tamim, who struck 158 runs only in the previous match of the series.
After the opening game Liton Kumar stated that he was nervous coming to open the innings after a gap despite scoring hundred after a gap of 17 months. Though later he admitted that if he is nervous all the time it won’t help him in the long runs.

‘’I won’t be able to connect the ball if I am nervous all the time,’’ Liton told Cricfrenzy after his century in the opening game.
It appeared he got over the nervousness as he smacked all the bowlers through different part of the park, scoring highest individual score for his country making 176 runs.
While Liton scored in the opening game Tamim Iqbal blazed in the second ODI when he notched his century after 23 months.
But still the openers could not put an action together that suggested they are the ones on whom Bangladesh could rely for the upcoming days until they came blazing together to light the Sylhet Stadium on the eve of the farewell game of their captain.
Liton was explosive and it appeared fortune favour the brave as he got life on three occasions while Tamim played a innings without any life.
Bangladesh opener Liton Das and Tamim Iqbal scripted history making their highest partnership in 50-over format in their third encounter of the series against Zimbabwe at Sylhet International Stadium in Sylhet on Friday.
The pair scored 292 runs in combined during the first wicket partnership, which breaks the previous 224-run record of Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad in the fifth wicket partnership- scored against New Zealand in 2017-Champions Trophy.
Liton’s magnificent 176 runs off 142 ball and Tamim’s 109-ball 128 to score 292 runs for the first wicket partnership, also stands in the 3rd position in the best first wicket partnership list in the history of one-day cricket.
West Indies batsmen JD Campbell and Shai Hope hold the highest first wicket partnership record, scoring 365 runs in 2019 against Ireland, who broke the previous 304-run record, made by Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman of Pakistan in the first wicket pair in 2018 against Zimbabwe.
But the way Liton was going if the overs were not curtailed he could have surely taken a chance to score the maiden double hundred for the country.
