Skipper Mominul Haque showed the stubbornness to foil a much-vaunted bowling attack but Bangladesh found them in a vulnerable state, being reduced to 63-3 at lunch on the first day of the first Test against India at Holkar Stadium in Indore on Thursday.
At the first interval of the day, Mominul, who won the toss on his captaincy debut and opted to bat first, was batting on 22, with Mushfiqur Rahim on 14
After losing the toss, India skipper Virat Kohli said he would have too chosen to bowl because there was some carry for the fast bowler. His fast bowler however proved it preciously right, tormenting Bangladeshi batsmen throughout the session.

Imrul Kayes marked his return to the Test fold after one year, scoring just 6 and was the first to go after sustained pressure from the pacers. He edged one to Ajinkya Rahane at third slip off Umesh Yadav bowling.
Another opener Shadmad Islam also couldn’t survive long in a spicy wicket as he nicked one to wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Shaha after poking a length delivery of Ishant Sharma tentatively.
Mominul Haque however appeared to play on different surface. On his captaincy debut when his side was struggling at 12-2, Mominul released the pressure with some beautiful drives against India’s three-pronged pace attack—Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami.
After coming to bowl as first changed bowler, Shami had Mohammad Mithun leg-before for 12, with one that swung late.
Mushfiqur Rahim joined Mominul Haque and, survived courtesy to Virat Kohli when on 3, after the Indian skipper shelled a catch at third slip off Yadav bowling.
Afterwards, both of the batsmen played cautiously to end the session without further hiccup.
