After getting seriously injured in the right hand Australia top-order batsman Shaun Marsh’s World Cup is over. Peter Handscomb, a 28-year old batsman has been called up as his replacement, confirmed Australian head coach Justin Langer.
Marsh got injured on July 4 while facing Pat Cummings in the nets. After getting hit, he was taken to the hospital quickly. The scan report showed that there is a fracture in his right hand and surgery is a must. So, he won’t be a part of Australia squad for the rest of the tournament.

“ Shaun Marsh got an injury in his hand, that’s why his World Cup is over. Throughout this tournament his professionalism, playing style and energy was impressive. At this moment we have decided to include Peter Handscomb in his place,” said Langer.
Alongside Marsh, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell also got hit in the nets. He also got hit on his right hand while facing Mitchell Starc in the nets. But Maxwell’s scan report shows, his injury is not that serious and he will be able to play against South Africa on July 6.
“Glenn Maxwell has also gone through scan after getting hit in the nets. Scan report says, his injury is not that serious and we will examine him in the coming days. We are hoping he will be fit against the match against South Africa,” added Langer.
Australia has ensured their semifinal spot already with seven wins out of eight games. The will face South Africa on Saturday. The match will start at 6.30 pm ( BD Time ) at Old Trafford.
