To secure a place in the semifinals, the Tigers must win at least two matches. However, considering their recent performances and the strength of their opponents, the road ahead will not be easy.

Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has expressed doubts about Bangladesh’s chances in the tournament.
Speaking on an ICC podcast, he said, "The Champions Trophy will be tough for Bangladesh. I don't think they have the quality, especially when compared to other teams. Although the tournament will be played in the subcontinent, they won't get home-like conditions, which could make things difficult for them."

However, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Nazmul Abedin Fahim does not agree with Ponting’s assessment.

In response, he told the media on Saturday, "Bangladesh has improved significantly in the past few months, which Ponting may not have noticed or considered. Earlier, we struggled to score runs and lacked confidence, but those areas have improved. This time, we will see a difference on the field. If Bangladesh gets a chance to play against Australia, they will surely put them under pressure."
Bangladesh will begin their Champions Trophy campaign on February 20 against India, followed by matches against New Zealand on February 24 and Pakistan on February 27.
