Hannan Sarkar resigns as BCB selector

The former Bangladesh cricketer was appointed for a two-year term under the selection panel led by Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu. However, he submitted his resignation to BCB’s Head of Cricket Operations, Nazmul Abedin Fahim, on Tuesday.

Before joining the national selection committee, Hannan served as a selector for Bangladesh’s Under-19 team, earning a promotion to the senior role.
According to BCB sources, he submitted his resignation with a one-month notice period. In previous interviews, Hannan had expressed his desire to return to coaching, prompting his decision to step down from the BCB position.
Following his retirement from professional cricket, Hannan pursued a career in coaching but later transitioned into selection roles within age-group cricket at the BCB.

Despite his established role as a selector, the former batter—who played 17 Tests and 20 ODIs for Bangladesh—has reignited his passion for coaching. Sources confirm that Hannan has already engaged in discussions with senior BCB officials regarding his future in coaching.
