Bangladesh ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal said that he always follows the mantra what the former Sri Lanka skipper Tillakaratne Dilshan gave him which is to communicate with the non-striker in the match as the non-striker knows the game very well than the striker and he believes that communication between the player can ease many pressure among them.
In Tamim's last Facebook live session, the veteran opener brought his teammate Mominul Haque, Soumya Sarkar, Liton Das and Taijul Islam. Where Liton Das describing how he was able to score 94 from 182 in the second innings against Sri Lanka in 2018, Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram. He said that how Mominul who also made history in that match becoming the first Test player of Bangladesh by scoring two centuries in two innings, helped him to understand the situation of the match by communicating with him after every single delivery in that match.
"I find excitement while partnering with Shourav Bhai, because he talks every ball to ball. Like Liton don't do this or that. I also try to talk with Shourav Bhai. So, I like this communication while batting because I feel that while being into the wicket we are only two otherwise everyone against us, from umpire to fielders. So, if the communication goes well then many things which I don't understand the non-striker then help me to understand that. Shourav Bhai helped me a lot on that day. Because whenever I batted with Shourav Bhai we always talk and rotate, so, those things helped me mentally a lot," Liton said.

Mominul, however, revealed that he got this communication skill from Tamim, and asked the veteran opener about it so that others also know the benefit of this as well.
Tamim said that he learned this from Tillakaratne Dilshan, and he also believes that in the match only the two batsman are the one who are up against eleven players. It creates an immense pressure on the batsman and while playing sometimes they misjudged many things which can be avoided if the non-striker participate in the conversation and provide suggestion to the striker. And he follows this from the day he learned it from the former Lankan great.
"Actually what I think what Liton said that they are 11 and we are two, me and my partner and now if you don't talk with your partner, because those who bat are in tremendous pressure. Mind all-time works on what will be the next delivery or what is going to happen. Once Tillakaratne Dilshan told me that always remember that the non-striker knows the game very well. The person who is batting he don't understand the game very well. The non-striker knows the game very well than others," Tamim said.
"So a lot of things in mind will be changed if you heard clearly the advise you get from the non-striker. Like, you are batting and you are thinking that this bowl can be a bouncer you stand back footed and then the non-striker comes to you and say that clean your mind and just do normal batting, then you become refresh again. So it's very important to talk while batting. I try to follow this so much," he added.
However, Tamim also feels that in the 2019 World Cup he faced a lot of problems due to the lack of communication with his partner. Not unveiling the reason the ODI skipper just said that he just wants his partner to speak with him to ease the pressure in the match.
"Truly speaking I faced a problem during this 2019 World Cup, even I told to Soumya about it. Whatever the reason was, I was wanting my partner to speak with me. Because I was going through a pressure. I wasn't able to think so much. We were not able to do this thing very well in this World Cup. But now Liton, he wasn't used to talk so much before but now he does. Soumya always try to talk with me. Even with Mominul it happens in Test always. It is actually don't depend on who is senior or junior communicating is very important," Tamim concluded.
