Bangladesh performance analyst Shrinivas Chandrasekaran credited former national skipper Mashrafe Mortaza for the triumph against Pakistan in the 2018 Asia Cup.
In the 2018 Asia Cup Bangladesh faced against the sub-continental rival Pakistan and made a triumph over them by a 37 run win margin. Where after winning the toss than Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe elected to bat first and the team put on a score of 239 runs against the Pakistan who ended their 50 over innings scoring 202 runs.

The former skipper, however, hailed the performance analyst Shrinivas as he gave the right decision at the right time about insisting a short midwicket against Shoaib Malik who was looming large at that moment for the Bangladesh team, and right after Mashrafe considered his decision to keep himself as the fielder on that position the team got a catch on that exact position.
However, Shrinivas said that he was overjoyed to see the skipper took the catch phenomenally and gives the whole credit to the catch taker Mashrafe. And about the decision of positioning a fielder in that area came to his mind as he had played with Shoib in the Pakistan Super League [PSL] he knew where Shoib can pushed his bat.
"First of All, the catch that Mashrafe took of Shoaib Malik was phenomenal; the whole credit goes to him. That incident of Shoaib Malik’s catch was a funny one because I had worked before with Shoaib in PSL (Pakistan Super League) franchise Multan Sultan. The first time when I started working in BPL, he was part of my team. So I knew that was the area where Shoaib puts the ball in the air." Shrinivas also said that after the drinks break he told the skipper about to field a player in that mid-wicket area as Rubel Hossain was going to bowl in the next over. "Then there was a drinks break and I told Mashrafe to field a player in mid-wicket area as Rubel was coming to bowl. So Mashrafe went there and then after two-three deliveries he (Mashrafe) took an absolute blinder and that turned out to be a match-winning catch as we won the match. That helped us qualify for the Asia Cup final." He concluded.
Shrinivas is currently staying in his resident in Chennai due to the coronavirus pandemic and working from his home on the game plan and players performance of Bangladesh cricke
