CWAB yet to receive donation from first-class cricketers

Cricketer’s Welfare Association of Bangladesh [CWAB] officials said that they are yet to start their relief activities for the coronavirus affected people as they are yet to receive the promised funds by the first-class cricketers.
91 first-class cricketers announced that they are willing to donate their half month’s salary for the corona affected people.
“The first-class cricketers received salary till March while they wanted to donate half of their salary which they are expecting in April. CWAB President Naimur Rahman recently spoke with BCB Accountant Mannan Bhai and he said they will deposit the donation in our account soon,” said CWAB Secretary Debabrata Paul

“We have an account in One Bank, Dhanmondi Branch. That branch was closed for a week as the bank authority is keeping branches of nearby locations open in alternative weeks as part of their limited operations protocol. The cheque from Bangladesh Under-19 team is ready and it will be deposited in the next one or two working days,” he said adding that after receiving the fund, their committee members will decide on how to help the poor people with the donation.
CWAB said that they are talking with officials of Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] Accounts Department to deposit half of their April month’s salary into CWAB fund.
“As we said in the press release, we will try to help people affected by coronavirus pandemic. Once we get the funds, we will discuss it with committee members and decide how we can help people effectively,” he said.
The death toll from coronavirus in Bangladesh reached 140 on Saturday, the total number of infected went past 5000 and situation is getting worse every day but meanwhile, CWAB is still waiting for funds to start their humanitarian activities.
According to the official, CWAB is expecting to get the donation promised by the 91 first-class cricketers soon
