The Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] has come forward to provide support to the players and even for grounds men but what will happen to the non-contracted coaches and support staffs who were taking part in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Division Premier Cricket League [DPL] 2019-20 season.

BCB has already had gave one-time monetary support to the contracted and non-contracted cricketers due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was done by the board as the DPL has been postponed for an indefinite period and it will only start after the corona situation gets better and also no one knows when the situation will get better.

However, not only the players get their bread and butter from the DPL but also the coaches, trainers and physios also gets their earnings from DPL.

Coaches and supports staffs have been overlooked by BCB and the coaches also think that BCB should also think about them as they also depend on the remuneration they get from here provide their livelihood.

Among the twelve DPL clubs, each have at least four to five support staff which includes head coach, assistant coach, physio and trainer.

There are a few coaches who are among paid employees like Foisal Hossain Dickens, Talha Jubair, Rajin Saleh, Sohel Islam, Alamgir Kabir who are also taking part in the Dhaka Premiier League for respective clubs.

But there are also coaches out of those twelve clubs are not enlisted as BCB's employees and they rely on earnings from the DPL, which is currently suspended indefinitely.

Aftab Ahmed coach of Legends of Rupganj is one of the coaches outside of BCB payroll said that postponement of the DPL cause his team and him a financial loss. As they will have to play next years with this years contracted money. Which in his words a whole year loss for him financially.

"Obviously it's a big loss for us, especially from the financial side. Because one year is a loss for us, this year's contract will stand in next year as there has been one match as far as I know. That means the team and the players will be the same and everyone will have to play next year with this years contracted money. Which is a whole year loss for the cricketers and coaches,’’ said Aftab,

Another coach from Partex sporting club Rezaul Haque agree with the decision of postponement but also fears about what will happen next, where the situation will lead the cricket. Also seeking help from the government and from BCB to get financial help as it was their major medium to get earnings for their livelihood.

"The decision to postpone the game was absolutely right. It would have been better if they had declared it even earlier. Now lives are at stake. It is difficult to say what will happen when. However, it causes some loss, as there are some financial matter also. Players are getting paid or the board is helping them, but what about the coaches. We are not under the board. Who knows how our financial side will work. Hope that the government or the board will look at us, the coaches," said Rezaul.
