NCL Tier-2: Barishal eyes victory after Rabbi’s six-for

Fast bowler Kamrul Islam Rabbi grabbed 6-24 as Barishal Division made a giant leap towards victory in the NCL Tier-2 game against Sylhet Division at the Shaheeb Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi on Saturday.


A total of 17 wickets however were fallen on the day after which Barishal took 118 runs to lead to establishing their full command on the game.


As Rabbi came up with his ruthless best, Sylhet was bowled out for just 86 in the first innings, after resuming the day on 68-3.

Barisal declared their first innings on 231-8 with each of their first three batsmen making valuable contributions. Captain Fazle Mahmud top-scored with 70 while opener Shahriar Nafees made 63. Another opener Rafsan Al Mahmud contributed with 33.


The middle order and lower order however couldn’t fare well but still they gained a sizable 145 runs lead in first innings.


Sylhet however came to bat with 11 overs remaining of the day and was reduced to 27-2, handing the baton to Barishal once again.


In another Tier-2 game, the match between Chittagong Division and Dhaka Metropolis looked heading towards a draw at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.



At the end of the day, Dhaka Metro reached 349-7 in its first innings, resuming the day on 66-2. Mahmudullah Riyad was the highest scorer for the side with 63 while Shamsur Rahman made 55.


Dhaka leads the match 59 runs at the moment as Chittagong was bowled out for 290 in their first innings.
