Bangladesh Test opener Sadman Islam said on Monday that he is not in a hurry to make his way into the shorter formats.

Sadman is one of the members in the BCB’s 30-member elite camp that began it activities at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on May 12.

The camp is formed with cricketers who had done well in the just concluded Dhaka Premier League in order to prepare them for the upcoming home series against Afghanistan A.

Sadman welcomed the BCB initiative as he believe this will help them work on their short-coming and make necessary changes that is required to move forward in the future.

‘’We just completed a long season. Now during the month of Ramadan we don’t have any specific program but through this camp we hope to get the opportunity to work out at this point of time,’’ Sadman told reporters at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

‘’During this camp we can work on our lacking after the coach shows it to us and that will be beneficial for the upcoming season as we will be fit,’’ he said.

‘’There is always chance to improve as we have national assignments after a long gap. The A team series is also important because doing well here will help the team in the long run,’’ he said.

‘’I am not thinking about [playing ODI and T20] too much and I am trying to improve slowly. As I am a Test cricketer all I am thinking now is about how to do well,’’ he added.

The elite squad is comprised with players like Taskin Ahmed, Farhad Reza and Imrul Kayes for the upcoming home series against Afghanistan A at their own den in July.

Former coach of Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team Mizanur Rahman will look after the batting side, veteran spinning coach Wahidul Gani will work with the spinners while former national pacer Talha Jubair will look after pace bowlers with the support of Sri Lankan Champaka Ramanayeke while the wicket-keeping segment will be supervised by Golam Murtaza.

The elite skill camp is planned at SBNS from May 12-30 and the national cricketers who are currently in Ireland for the ongoing tri-nation will join the squad upon returning back from the three-nation tournament that is played in Dublin.
