Bangladesh opener Liton Kumar Das said that he is ready to play aggressive brand of cricket as that is how he prefers to bat. The 23-year-old is expected to partner Tamim in opening the batting innings for the Tigers in the upcoming Asia Cup.

Repeated failure of Soumya Sarkar at the top in the T20Is helped Liton earn a spot and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands in the final match of a three-T20I series against West Indies scoring a 32-ball innings of 61 runs to help Bangladesh clinch the series 2-1 with a 19-run win (D/L method) in that match at Lauderhill.

“Besides staying at the crease, you have to score runs as well. And if you want to score runs, you’ll have to play some shots,” Liton said.

“Different types of batsmen play differently. I like to play aggressively and I will continue this way,” he added.

According to many it is high time for Liton to shed the self-doubts and translate his potential into performances in the middle as he had often been carried away after doing all the hard work.

“Only one ball is enough to get out and I'm working on perfecting my shots,” said Liton adding candidly that he is yet to reach a stage where he can consistently channel his starts into a substantial score.

“The big cricketers play big innings if they can start well. I haven’t become a big cricketer yet, maybe that’s the reason I am not being able to play big innings. I am trying to do something good, so that I can make my innings bigger,” he concluded.
