Bangladesh powered their way into the semifinals of the Hong Kong International Sixes, defeating the UAE by 18 runs (DLS method) in the quarterfinal match at Mission Road Ground on Saturday.
In the semifinals tomorrow, Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka at the same venue.
All-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin played a crucial role with the bat, scoring a rapid 36 off nine balls, which included five sixes and a four, after openers Jishan Alam and Abdullah Al Mamun set the tone with a 59-run partnership from just 23 balls.
This quick start helped Bangladesh reach 111-1 in their six overs. Jishan remained unbeaten on 34 from 17 balls, hitting three sixes and three fours, while Mamun scored 31 off 11 balls, with two fours and three sixes.
With the ball, Saifuddin continued to impress, taking two wickets and keeping the pressure on the UAE, who were restricted to 43 for three in 3.2 overs after their revised target was set to 62 in 20 balls.
