Despite Bangladesh’s expectation of greater assistance for spinners as the Abu Dhabi Test progressed, the pitch has remained largely unchanged after four days.

Litton Das acknowledged that the surface has offered little turn, but hopes the rough patches will help Bangladesh’s spinners make an impact on the final day, when they need seven wickets to beat Afghanistan.

“The pitch is not particularly spin-friendly. However, on the fifth day, the ball often starts turning more from the rough patches on the surface. Our spinners are already bowling in good areas, and hopefully, they will continue to do so and build pressure. If they get some help from the pitch, it will make their job easier,” Litton said.

Litton has found his form against Afghanistan after struggling during Bangladesh's tour of Australia. The right-handed batter scored a half-century in the first innings before producing a century in the second.

A regular across all three formats for Bangladesh, Litton said he enjoys playing all formats but holds Test cricket in particularly high regard.

“I like all three formats, but Test cricket holds a slightly higher place for me. There is so much that happens in a Test match. From the first day to the fifth, there are numerous challenges and situations to enjoy. That is why I like Test cricket,” he said.

Litton also explained how his role as a wicketkeeper helps him with his batting, allowing him to develop a better understanding of the pitch while standing behind the stumps.

“Yes, it definitely helps. Standing behind the stumps allows me to understand a lot of things and develop a better idea about the pitch. That helps me considerably with my batting,” he added.
