Australia's preparations for the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh suffered an early setback after wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis sustained a back spasm during the opening day of the squad's training camp in Brisbane.

Pat Cummins' squad assembled at Allan Border Field to begin preparations for the Top End series, which gets underway in Darwin on August 13. However, Inglis was forced to leave the ground after experiencing discomfort in his back.

Inglis, who captained Australia’s white ball teams on the recent tour of Pakistan and Bangladesh and played two Tests in last summer’s Ashes series, has a history of back complaints, but Code Sports reported that he is expected to make a full recovery in the coming days.

Despite the injury scare, Inglis is unlikely to feature in the opening Test against Bangladesh, with Alex Carey expected to retain the wicketkeeping role, while Cameron Green and Beau Webster are tipped to strengthen Australia's middle order.

Lyon, returning from the hamstring injury that sidelined him since the Adelaide Test last December, claimed three wickets during the match simulation.

Several players outside Australia's 13-man Test squad also featured in the simulation, including Queensland batter Matt Renshaw, while Travis Head is expected to join the training sessions on Tuesday.
