Bangladesh finished fourth, having beaten Pakistan in the bronze-medal match at the previous Asian Games.
Batting first after winning the toss at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Pakistan made 145-8 in 20 overs.
Gull Feroza gave them a strong start with 31 off 23 balls before Bangladesh’s spinners, Nahida Akter and Shorna Akter, put Pakistan under pressure.
Pakistan slipped to 67-5 after 12 overs, but captain Fatima Sana and Aliya Riaz rescued the innings with a 67-run partnership.
Aliya made 25 off 22 balls, while Fatima top-scored with 45 off 30 as Pakistan posted a competitive total.
Bangladesh’s chase got off to a poor start as they lost three wickets inside the powerplay for just 25 runs. Juairiya Ferdous and Sobhana Mostary fell to Umm-e-Hani, who finished with excellent figures of 3-10.
Nigar Sultana and Sharmin Akhter tried to rebuild the innings, but Bangladesh struggled to keep up with the required rate.
Nigar was dismissed for 25, while Sharmin remained unbeaten on 46 off 45 balls. Bangladesh finished on 114-7 in 20 overs.
Umm-e-Hani was Pakistan’s standout bowler with three wickets for just 10 runs, while Fatima Sana’s crucial 45 helped Pakistan secure the bronze medal.
The match could also mark the end of Nigar Sultana’s tenure as Bangladesh’s T20I captain.
She had informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board before the tournament that she wanted to step down from the role, with the board expected to discuss the matter after the team returns home.
India and Sri Lanka will contest the gold medal in the women’s cricket final.
