Afghanistan batter Afsar Zazai has received an official reprimand and one demerit point for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the recently concluded one-off Test against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi.

Zazai, who was serving as the 12th man, ignored repeated instructions from the on-field umpires not to enter the field and waste time. He again entered the field without permission in the 139th over.

He admitted the offence and accepted the sanction, avoiding a formal hearing. It was his first offence in a 24-month period.

On-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Allahuddien Paleker, third umpire Asif Yaqoob and fourth umpire, Izatullah Safi levelled the charges.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.
