Washington Sundar’s blistering 49* off 23 balls powered India past Australia’s 186 with nine balls remaining.
Chasing 187, India lost early wickets but kept up the tempo. Abhishek Sharma (25 off 16) and Suryakumar Yadav (24 off 11) provided quick cameos before Tilak Varma (29 off 26) steadied the innings.
Sundar then took charge, smashing four sixes and three fours in a match-winning knock, with Jitesh Sharma’s 22* (13) offering valuable support.
Earlier, Tim David (74 off 38) and Marcus Stoinis (64 off 39) had powered Australia to 186/6 after a shaky start.
Arshdeep Singh led India’s bowling with 3/35, while Varun Chakravarthy chipped in with 2/33.
Nathan Ellis was the pick of Australia’s bowlers, taking 3/36, but couldn’t stop India’s late surge.
