Skipper Jaker Ali praised his side’s composure after the Asia Cup, saying, “The boys knew how to manage after the Asia Cup which was pleasing to see.”
“The last three games we have done a good job in the fielding and also bowlers made the job easy for the batters. All are capable and they just need to believe that they are the best and need to have that confidence,
“Great feeling because we know they have good spinners and we have prepared accordingly. All credit goes to the boys because everyone did their job perfectly. The fans support us anywhere we play and big thanks to them” he added.
Chasing a target of 144, Bangladesh cruised home with 12 balls to spare, powered by a blistering knock from player of the match Saif Hassan, who smashed seven sixes in a 38-ball 64.
Tanzid Hasan played a supporting role with 33, as Bangladesh remained in control despite a couple of strikes from Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
Nurul Hasan finished things off in the 18th over to seal the win.
Earlier, Bangladesh’s bowlers once again set the tone with another disciplined display. Mohammad Saifuddin led the attack with 3 for 15, while Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Nasum Ahmed claimed two wickets apiece to restrict Afghanistan to 143 for 9.
Nasum finished the series with five wickets and was named Player of the Series for his consistent impact throughout.
“I have done well against New Zealand and Australia as well at home. The wicket was a bit slow and I wanted to mix my variations and use whatever advantage was on offer” Nasum said.
Bangladesh sign off the T20I leg in style and will now turn their attention to the ODI series starting on October 8.
