Despite earlier concerns about the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) potentially boycotting the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Dhaka, the situation appears to have stabilized following significant diplomatic engagement by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

In recent days, media outlets in India had reported that the BCCI might skip the meeting amid political and organizational tensions within the ACC.

This triggered speculation around the unity of Asian cricketing nations and cast uncertainty over key agenda items, including the Asia Cup 2025 and future bilateral series.
However, President Aminul Islam Bulbul confirmed after a dinner party hosted by the BCB for ACC President and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and all other associate members, that all full members of the ACC will now participate in the AGM—either in person or virtually.
“No, for the past two days we’ve been making several plans. First and foremost, it's about cricket. Even if there were any misunderstandings among us, since we are hosting the ACC AGM in Bangladesh, we took that responsibility seriously. With everyone’s cooperation, we’ve been able to convince all parties—for the sake of cricket. Everyone will be joining tomorrow’s ACC AGM. Those who can't attend in person will join online. Among those already here, three full members—Afghanistan will arrive tonight, while Pakistan and Bangladesh are already present. India and Sri Lanka—India has announced that it will join online, and Sri Lanka will participate. So, all in all, everyone is joining. That’s the situation as of now. Sri Lanka has confirmed, and India has said it’s 'likely to be'—but the discussion suggests they will join.”

According to Bulbul, India has not confirmed physical attendance but has expressed willingness to join online. While the phrase “likely to be” remains vague, direct communication between the BCCI and BCB has eased immediate concerns. “They want to keep all bilateral series intact with us,” he added, reinforcing the notion that Indo-Bangladesh cricketing relations remain strong.

“Our relationship with the BCCI has always been good—it still is. And as you know, we didn’t cancel this tour; we only postponed it. Both boards sat down and finalized the most suitable window available. Just yesterday and also the day before yesterday, I personally spoke with BCCI. They want to keep all bilateral series intact with us. And since our relationship has always been good, we want to maintain that.”
His statement reflects a tone of resolution and quiet pride in Bangladesh's leadership role during the buildup to the high-stakes meeting.
“I won’t go into the details here, but Bangladesh can be proud. I’m not going into specifics, but as a representative of Bangladesh, I can say I’m proud of what we’ve achieved.”
The ACC AGM will also discuss the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, which will be presided over by Chairman Naqvi, is expected to determine the fate of the tournament.
“Tomorrow we have our meeting, our AGM. One of the agenda items will be discussed there.”
