The eight-team format will continue for a second consecutive season after PSL 11 featured eight franchises for the first time and also introduced a player auction in place of the previous draft system.
The playing window was finalised following consultations with the league’s stakeholders at the PSL Governing Council meeting in London on September 1. Representatives and owners of all eight franchises attended the meeting.
PSL 11 produced several milestones, including a record crowd of 32,461 for the final at Gaddafi Stadium. Peshawar Zalmi won the title after defeating debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets on May 3, ending a nine-year wait for the championship.
With the dates for PSL 12 now confirmed, the PCB is set to begin a series of key activities, including direct player signings, retention announcements, the trade window and the player auction.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the previous edition had demonstrated the league’s potential and expressed confidence that the next season would take it to another level.
“PSL 12 will raise the bar further,” Naqvi said, adding that the PCB was committed to delivering another successful season with all eight franchises competing for the title.
The PCB said further details regarding the complete schedule, venues, player auction and ticketing arrangements will be announced in due course.
