Bangladesh duo Parvez Hossain Emon and Mustafizur Rahman played key roles as Lahore Qalandars beat Multan Sultans by 20 runs in a rain-shortened 13-over contest in the PSL.

After rain reduced the game, Lahore posted a commanding 185 for 5 before restricting Multan to 165 for 5 in reply.

Emon provided the early fireworks with a blistering 45 off just 19 balls, smashing 2 fours and 5 sixes at a strike rate of 236.84. Opening the innings, the Bangladesh batter helped Lahore storm to 86 in just 5.1 overs, setting the tone for the innings.

He and Mohammad Naeem tore into the Multan attack from the outset, with Naeem later top-scoring with 60 off 28 balls. Abdullah Shafique then kept the pressure on with a rapid 33 off 14, helping Lahore pile up a daunting total in the shortened game.

In the chase, Mustafiz made his presence felt with two important breakthroughs. The left-arm pacer first removed Sahibzada Farhan for 24, before striking again to dismiss the dangerous Shan Masood, who had hammered 44 off 18 balls and was threatening to take the game away.

Mustafiz finished with 2 for 37 from his three overs, delivering key blows at crucial moments to derail Multan’s chase.

Although Ashton Turner fought back with an unbeaten 52 off 22 balls and Arafat Minhas chipped in with 25 off 11, Multan ultimately fell short of the steep target.

Lahore’s bowlers managed to hold their nerve despite the high-scoring conditions, with Shaheen Shah Afridi, Ubaid Shah, and Sikandar Raza also picking up a wicket each.
