More than 1,000 cricketers have registered earlier for the upcoming IPL mini auction, scheduled for 16 December.
A total of 350 players have been shortlisted for the Abu Dhabi–based event. Of these, 40 cricketers have listed themselves at the top base price of INR 2 crore, including only two Indians, Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi.
Besides them, 45 players have set the highest base price of INR 2 crore, a list that includes Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman.
Notably, Shakib Al Hasan has not registered for the auction.
Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is widely seen as a strong contender to become the most expensive player in this auction. His base price is INR 2 crore.
Meanwhile, Quinton de Kock, Dunith Wellalage, and George Linde, who were absent from the initial list, have now been added to the final draft. At the request of various franchises, 35 new names have been included.
Of the 350 shortlisted cricketers, 240 are Indian, while 110 are overseas players, a broad pool expected to intensify competition at the auction.
The auction will begin with capped players, grouped by specialization: batters, all-rounders, wicketkeeper-batters, fast bowlers, and spinners.
The uncapped players will follow this. After the 70th player, a rapid round will commence.
A total of 77 squad vacancies will be filled this year, including 31 overseas slots. Kolkata Knight Riders hold the biggest purse with INR 64.30 crore, and have 13 spots to fill, including six for foreign players.
