Bashar, 53, returns to the role with significant experience, having previously served as a selector for both the men’s and women’s national teams.
A former top-order batter, he was the first Bangladeshi to score over 3000 Test runs and remains a prominent figure in the country’s cricket.
He will be joined by former pacer Hasibul Hossain, who was part of the previous panel under Gazi Ashraf Hossain since September 2025.
The new panel also includes Naeem Islam and Nadif Chowdhury. Naeem enjoyed a long domestic career, amassing over 20,000 runs and holding the national record for most first-class centuries (34). Nadif, a former T20 international, has been involved in talent development as an age-group selector.
The panel’s tenure will run until the selection of Bangladesh’s squad for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027, scheduled to be held in Africa in October–November 2027.
