The former Awami League MP has not returned to Bangladesh since August 5, 2024, and faces multiple legal cases, including a murder charge.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has forwarded documents from Shakib’s lawyers to the Ministry of Youth and Sports as part of efforts to resolve the legal complexities.
However, reports say the situation is not yet conducive for bringing Shakib back to play the Pakistan series.
The squad is set to be announced soon, and the selectors reportedly did not receive any green signal from the BCB regarding his inclusion.
Having been out of the national setup for nearly 18 months, Shakib would need to undergo fitness assessments and training before being considered.
