In the wake of Bangladesh’s disappointing T20I series defeat against the USA, opening batter Imrul Kayes remarked that the team management and coaching staff should delve into the problems that are hindering the batting performance.
Bangladesh suffered a humiliating defeat against the USA, as the host secured a thrilling six-run victory in the second T20I on Thursday making history by winning their maiden series against an ICC full-member nation.
Imrul, who has represented Bangladesh in numerous international matches, believes that the coaching staff holds the key to unlocking the team's potential.
“The coaches should find out why the batter are unable to perform. The cricket board invest a lot of time in the coaching panel. The coaches should evaluate each player and learn their technical difficulties and if they can’t provide necessary assistance, it will be difficult for the team. The coach has to play their role and see why the players are not scoring,” said Imrul to Cricfrenzy.
He also stated that even though every player can go through a bad phase, a prolonged period of poor performance is often indicative of a technical issue that needs to be addressed.
“Every player can go through a bad phase, but a bad phase for a long time is definitely a technical issue. Ultimately, it's the coaches responsibility to make the players bounce back or find out the root cause of their issues,” he added.
Bangladesh will face the co-host of the T20 World Cup, the USA in the third and last match of the sereis on May 28.
